Research Unit Overview

Welcome to the Research Unit at CityU Unity College Nicosia!

Our focus is on supporting scholarly activities and fostering a nurturing environment for research activities that benefits our academic community and the broader society. While we are a small institution, our commitment to research is strong, and we aim to contribute thoughtfully to local and regional academic discussions.

Aims and Objectives

The key aim of the Research Unit is to improve capabilities in basic scientific research across the College. 

The specific objectives are:

  • Develop and implement research strategies and plans tailored to our resources and priorities.
  • Prepare and follow a yearly plan for research activities within our departments.
  • Support the development of faculty and student research skills and activities.
  • Coordinate manageable research projects, including participation in Erasmus+ and similar initiatives.
  • Encourage research that addresses local and regional social and policy issues.
  • Build connections with partner institutions to exchange knowledge and best practices.
  • Host discussions, seminars, and workshops to share research insights.
  • Support the formation of small research teams and provide logistical support.

As the Head of the Research Unit, Dr. Zanete Garanti oversees all research activities and ensures alignment with the college’s strategic goals. Her primary duties include facilitating research collaborations and guiding the unit’s strategic vision.
